More Tight Pants, and Mullets

IMG_1253

These are the sort of tight pants seen all over Medellin, in bright colors with big high-heeled sandals.  The woman on the left (these are both moms at Aiden’s school) fell off of her giant shoes, twisted her ankle and ripped her jeans.  In case anyone’s wondering why I’m not wearing 5 inch heels (Abby) it’s because that would be me every day, hobbling around with ripped jeans and broken ankles.  Fortunately the ballet flat is tolerated here, so I’m not a total fashion pariah.

Colombian men can suffer for fashion too.  When they need to squeeze into their tight pants, they can get one of these girdles:

What is going on in this picture?

I’ve had big dreams of photographing the fauxhawk mullets of Medellin – they are amazing and everywhere. But it turns out it’s really hard to capture a moving mullet on an iphone camera.

Here are a few for you to enjoy:

His close cut curly mullet is fantastic. And he might be wearing one of those girdles.

I found this site which beautifully captures the mullets of the Medellin futbol fans.  http://www.miamisoccercorner.com/the-mullets-of-medellin-colombia.  You really should check them out.  No shame in their game.
